Welcome, I am glad you are here!
I come along side women who are desiring more for their lives and relationships. My desire as a therapist is to see you live your best life. Life is hard, yet, when you commit to doing the deeper work in therapy, real change begins to take place in your life. The women I have worked with have experienced loss, or traumas, anxiety or depression. You are busy being a wife, mother, daughter, aunt, working, or completing your education. The day to day tasks never end. You are longing for true connection, relationships that are authentic. But, you are exhausted, feeling stuck. You wonder, is there more to life than the day-to-day “to do list”? I believe that your life can have more meaning and your relationships can be restored.
“Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing we’ll ever do.” -Brene Brown
When working with children, I use imaginative play, games, books, various toys and art therapy to facilitate self-expression and empathy to connect them to their feelings and to develop insight. I like to think of my work with children as preventive medicine—i.e. treat the child before their emotional difficulties become a chronic condition. Children come to counseling with a need to be listened to and respond positively, to attention, encouragement, empowerment, and assistance with their emotions and practical difficulties. I create a safe, friendly environment so the child feels free to express their stress and concerns. The children I have worked with respond openly to suggestions for change when presented in a caring manner.
My story of becoming a therapist began with my own journey of healing and growth overtime. I am a woman who has overcome challenges in life. The therapeutic relationship is very special. Its important to find the right therapist for you. My warmth and compassion helps women and children to feel safe. Our work together will identify your struggles and there underlying causes. Therapy is an investment with major returns. My mission is to support and guide you on a path to a happier life.
Before my work as a therapist, I worked in the corporate world for many years. At some point, I realized I was looking for more meaning and purpose for my life. It became clear that people are what matter most. Our families, friends and neighbors. So, the journey of completing my education began. I am passionate about the work I do. It is my calling. My training includes: A Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology, as well as a BA in Psychology. I have been licensed for ten years in Florida (LMHC) and in practice for 15 years. I am currently completing requirements for licensure in California (Associate Professional Clinical Counselor 4678); supervised and employed by Jennifer Stubblefield, M.S., LMFT 81059. I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). Let’s talk about how I can help.
